Lex Products is looking for an Assistant Product Manager in our Shelton, Connecticut location. Use your marketing and/or sales experience in this dynamic office, manufacturing environment. The Assistant Product Manager will be responsible for supporting and executing marketing activities and programs including new product development, product line maintenance, business development, sales support, technical support and product training as directed by the Product Manager(s). The Assistant Product Manager will work closely with members of the marketing department, sales, operations and engineering and functions as a member of project teams to develop new and expand existing products and implement marketing and sales programs. The Assistant Product Manager may or may not have product lines for which they are responsible; however, they work towards this responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including the following: •Provides support by being an internal business driver for product families. •Champions the development of product improvements and new products. •Conducts market research and competitive intelligence, including bench marking competitive product offerings and pricing, establishing partnerships, maintaining awareness of industry trends, identifying consumer insights and investigation new product opportunities to support our product programs. •Assist with developing sales collateral, promotional and training material in support of product launches. •Utilize sales leads from trade shows, advertising and web site and coordinate efforts with Territory Managers. •Monitor market performance and customer feedback •Understand all aspects of product line to include product applications, pricing, features/benefits, target markets and competition. •Assists with marketing event responsibilities such as the company picnic, barb-ques etc. •As required, participate in select regional and national trade shows to gain market exposure •Creates promotional campaigns, to include social media platforms, and measure results via website traffic, lead generation, etc. •Assists in developing training sessions for the sales team. •All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. •Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or Business Administration or related area •1-3 years of marketing and/or sales experience •Electrical/electronics technical aptitude •Excellent written and oral communication skills •Solid understanding of different marketing techniques •Technically competent to understand and present all aspects of the product line •Team player capable of working effectively with the marketing department and cross functionally throughout the organization •Strong computer skills; Microsoft office, ERP/MRP systems, graphic design and/or marketing software •Ability to manage multiple, competing and changing priorities •Flexible and dependable •Ability to handle multiple tasks and remain organized •Superior attention to detail •Experience with website content management systems •Google Analytics, social media, CRM, Constant Contact experience a plus •Strong service orientation to proactively meet and exceed expectations of internal and external stakeholders •Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to build productive, collaborative relationships with all management levels and external stakeholders •Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios. •Occasional travel will be required.
